The benefits yogurt can provide may be a bit surprising. Along with extra nutrients, it may reduce your odds of getting bad breath and cavities.

Yogurt contains protein and calcium, so you can get some more of these necessary nutrients this way. Both nutrients are helpful for your teeth, particularly for maintaining the enamel.

Yogurt also contains probiotics, or beneficial bacteria. The probiotics can take up residence within your mouth, leaving less space for the bad bacteria to live in. This bad bacteria can cause issues like cavities and bad breath, so with less of them, you may have less chance of getting a cavity or developing bad breath.

You may want to choose a sugarless yogurt. Bad bacteria can be drawn in by sugar, so eating less of it can further keep them at bay. Also, eating yogurt is not a replacement for brushing or flossing, so please do not use this as an excuse to shirk those practices.
